A major escalation in conflict in Ukraine begins, taking thousands of lives and destroying vital infrastructure such as hospitals, roads, and water and electricity facilities. The violence triggers what will become Europe’s largest refugee crisis since World War II as millions of people flee the country. Calling for an end to the fighting, the global Islamic Relief family provides life-saving humanitarian aid: the £580,355 ($700,000) we give to trusted international partners equips vulnerable families, many fleeing to bordering Moldova, with vital survival items such as food and hygiene kits. The crisis also has a devastating impact around the world: disrupted trade routes make staple foods increasingly scarce and expensive, pushing many more people in the poorest countries into poverty and hunger
